Lubricating grease designed for use on heavily loaded, low speed bearings, especially those exposed to water.
The lubricating grease ONYX™ is designed for slow and severely loaded bearings, especially those exposed to water.
The thickener used in ONYX™ is the calcium sulfonate complex, which provides excellent performance even in the presence of water and/or steam. If water incorporates into the grease, ONYX™ will resist breakage and leakage out of the bearing. ONYX™ lubricates under conditions where conventional greases become liquid. WHITMORE® has added adhesive polymers and high viscosity base oil to the ONYX™ thickener for exceptional water repellency.
In spray wash tests (see table), 20% grease loss results are considered good, ONYX™ EP 2 only loses 9%. In water wash tests 5% loss is a good result, ONYX™ EP 2 loses about 1%.
ONYX™ grease has exceptional extreme pressure capability. The weld point in the Four Ball test is 800 kgf, which is the highest load possible in this test. This means increased service life of the bearing that operates under high loads and impacts.
